Lack of office development leaving 'London short of space'

There is a shortage of grade A office commercial development space in London, according to a leading industry expert.

A shortage of grade A office commercial development space in London has left the rental market a "bit tight", it has been claimed.

There is also a lack of new development investment projects "coming out of the ground" in the capital, which is having a marked effect on perceptions of supply, according to Cushman & Wakefield.

Head of the central London investment team at the real estate advisors Clive Bull explained: "What you are seeing is people who have got space requirements are just having to think quite seriously about what they do.

"If you have got a genuine space requirement and you want to move, then there is a finite amount of space you can take."

The lack of commercial space to meet demand could also begin to have an impact on commercial rent.

Figures from King Sturge published earlier this month indicate that rents will increase by 10.5 per cent by the end of 2010.ADNFCR-2843-ID-19570949-ADNFCR
