Aegon has introduced a commercial property fund for institutional investors.
Aegon Asset Management is launching a new product for pension fund investors that aims to provide attractive yields through the management of a portfolio of commercial property investments.
The Active Value Property Fund targets properties between £3 million and £10 million and is targeted at investment professionals, providing
sources of finance for offices, industrial and retail spaces, while leisure and healthcare may also be considered.
"We believe there is a gap in the market for our fund to gain a competitive edge by buying properties in the £3 to £10 million size range, that are too big for private buyers but too small for most institutional investors," said David Wise, lead manager of Aegon Active Value Property Fund.
Last month, Aegon warned that poor data quality could cost the pensions industry millions of pounds in the long term, resulting in increased compensation risks as well as increased liabilities for the scheme sponsor.
