Lord's Cricket Ground needs a commercial development partner to assist in a £400 million regeneration project.
The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) is looking for a
commercial property finance partner to help fund a £400 million redevelopment of the home of cricket.
Architect David Chipperfield may be drafted in to help Herzog & de Meuron, whose initial plan for the
commercial development of Lord's Cricket Ground has divided board members, according to Building magazine.
The plan involved the redevelopment of five grandstands to increase capacity, the addition of 400 homes and an underground training complex.
However, since a new chairman was appointed to the board last year, the project has gained momentum and an "international hunt" for a
commercial finance company will shortly begin as a result, claims the publication.
When the plans were originally announced back in November, it was hoped that the commercial development would be paid for with the sale of luxury flats on the site, while the grandstand capacity would be increased by 7,500.
