Over 200 jobs will be created by a commercial development project in Blackburn, it has been announced.
A
commercial development project in the north-west has created 200 jobs, as one of the country's biggest retailers move into new premises.
The new Primark store is the flagship of the 250,000 sq ft £66 million development in Blackburn, reports the Blackburn Citizen.
In addition, there will be more jobs available as and when tenants are found for the other shops in the development.
Town council leader Mike Lee told the publication that it was a sign of good things to come in the town.
"The council are hoping that an increased town centre footfall will generate more interest in things like museums and more money for the local economy," he said.
Commercial development firm The Mall owns the site, having purchased it in 2004.
The firm announced back in 2007 that the newly unveiled plans for the project would create commercial property able to provide a "vibrant addition to Blackburn".
