Commercial development firm unveils £400m marine energy plans

Proposals for a new marine energy park on the Humber have been put forward by commercial development firm Able.

Commercial development firm Able has revealed new plans for a marine energy park on the Humber.

The £400 million commercial development will be based at Immingham and will feature constructing wind turbines and potentially a plant to generate biomass energy, Property Week reports.

Able claims it has already made a property investment of around £50 million in the 1,987 acre site, which is being used for storage, distribution and vehicle import.

"Our plans envisage new quays 1,630 metres long, specifically tailored to the needs of the wind turbine offshore companies with whom we have been in detailed discussion in drawing up our proposals," Able executive chairman Peter Stephenson told the publication.

The planned biomass energy plant will be able to supply energy for up to half a million homes, he added.

Threadneedle managing director Don Jordison recently claimed that new carbon emission legislation, the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme, will help commercial development firms make their projects more saleable due to their reduced running costs.
