Commercial property market is 'patchy'

Commercial property assets in London are performing much better than those in other parts of the country.

The UK commercial property investment market has been described as "patchy" by King Sturge.

While there are strengths in the sector, performance throughout the country is not uniform, claims the property services company's partner in research Andrew Burrell.

Commercial development assets in London are expected to be some of the continent's strongest performers, yet property investment firms will not be interested in office space elsewhere in the country, Mr Burrell explains.

"Obviously it is a concern. It perhaps relates to what has been going on in the UK in terms of the election and the uncertainty about the political side of things going forward," he said.

Mr Burell went on to say that commercial property in the industrial sector is also some way off a complete recovery.

CB Richard Ellis reported earlier this month that UK commercial property capital growth slowed to 0.6 per cent in June, taking the year to date increase to 6.8 per cent.
