Cornwall commercial development granted European funding

European funding has been granted to a major commercial development in Cornwall.

An ambitious commercial development project in Cornwall has received £6.6 million in funding from the European Regional Development Fund.

The Barncoose Gateway commercial development will see offices and industrial units built at a cost of £13.5 million, creating more than 170 jobs, the BBC reports.

It is believed to be one of the largest projects of its kind to taker place in the county, with Neil Lindsey from CPR (Camborne, Pool and Redruth) Regeneration telling the news provider that this is likely to mean big changes for the area in the next year.

"It shows that our hard work behind the scenes in helping to develop projects to secure property investment is really having a positive impact on the regeneration of the Camborne, Pool and Redruth area," he said.

The Federation of Master Builders recently warned that public sector spending cuts would lead to major job losses in the construction sector, which will have a knock-on effect for development projects such as this.
