AXA Real Estate has appointed Balfour Beatty as the main contractor to complete the final construction phase of 'Sixty London' in Holborn.
The next phase of work on the prime London office property development is currently underway and is due to be completed in summer 2013.
In addition to the 215,000 sq. ft of office space, 'Sixty London' will provide 20,000 sq. ft of retail and restaurant space on the ground floor and discussions are underway with a number of potential occupiers who would further enhance the building and the local area.
Since AXA’s partnership with Development Venture III began in March 2011, the building has been redesigned to accommodate the extra 20,000 sq. ft, and improve the size and presence of the office reception area. The building is also targeting a BREEAM Excellent sustainability rating.
Sixty London, formerly Bath Hose and located on the Holborn Viaduct, benefits from excellent transport links, which will undoubtedly appeal to a wide range of potential occupiers. It is within close proximity of most of London’s busiest mainline railway stations, including King’s Cross St .Pancras, Euston, Victoria, Liverpool Street, Waterloo and Paddington. It is opposite the City Thameslink station and close to Farringdon, which is set to become a major hub when Crossrail commences.
Development Venture III was launched in 2010 and has raised €588.5 million (£487 million) to date. It is seeking to invest in partnership with AXA Real Estate’s teams across Europe in France, Italy, Spain and Germany. ‘Sixty London’ is its first property development collaboration.
AXA Real Estate’s UK Director of Development, Harry Badham, said:
"Our team has worked incredibly hard over the past year to finalize and enhance the design and specification of Sixty London and to procure a construction program – which began last summer – that meets our 2013 delivery timetable. We are now very excited to hand over the final construction phase to Balfour Beatty, which has an excellent team and track record, to deliver this fantastic new prime office building."
